How do I connect Billnado to ChatGPT?
Connect Billnado through MCP to ChatGPT or the local Codex app and find out which subscription is needed for write actions.

You can use Billnado through MCP in ChatGPT on the web or locally in the Codex app. Sign in with your own Billnado account; your existing administration access still applies.
Note: with a personal ChatGPT subscription, write actions through this MCP connection are only available locally in Codex. To use write actions in ChatGPT online, you need ChatGPT Business; OpenAI also supports them for Enterprise and Edu. This is a ChatGPT limitation, not a Billnado limitation. Write actions create or change data. Your workspace administrator must also allow the connection and the relevant actions.
Connect ChatGPT
Install the Billnado app when your workspace makes it available and complete OAuth sign-in with your Billnado account. For a custom MCP app, an authorised administrator or developer must first enable developer mode. Then choose Apps → Create in user or workspace settings, enter https://mcp.billnado.be/mcp, select OAuth and use Scan Tools. Complete sign-in and choose Create. An administrator publishes the app for the intended users.
Select the Billnado app in a conversation or @mention it. Available actions depend on your plan and workspace policy. Do not share passwords or tokens in a conversation.
Set up the local Codex app
- Install the Codex app and sign in with your ChatGPT account.
- Open Settings and select MCP servers.
- Select Add server, name the connection
Billnadoand choose Streamable HTTP. - Enter
https://mcp.billnado.be/mcpas the server URL and save the server. Then select Restart to load the configuration. - Select Authenticate for the Billnado server and complete the OAuth sign-in in your browser with your Billnado account. Return to Codex.
- Start a local task in the Codex app. Type
/mcpto view connected servers and check that Billnado is connected. - Ask “Which administrations can I access?” to check the connection without changing data.
Local means that you run the task on your computer in Codex. You still connect to Billnado over the internet. An authorised write action therefore changes your Billnado data. Check the selected administration and the proposed change before approving it.
Select a specific administration
Billnado uses your default administration by default. Ask “Which administrations can I access?” to choose another administration. The AI can use subscribers_list and pass the selected subscriberId to subsequent administration-scoped actions. Explicitly request a connection when subscriber_connect is needed.
When tools are out of date
In ChatGPT, the authorised administrator must open the Billnado app in workspace settings, update actions with Refresh and allow the desired new actions. A published tool list does not update automatically; reconnecting or starting a new conversation alone is insufficient. In a local Codex task, check the server connection and reload the MCP configuration if needed.
Can you read data but not change it? First check your ChatGPT subscription and whether you are working in a local Codex task. In a Business workspace, also check that the administrator allows the write action. Billnado continues to enforce your own access rights.
