Create a ledger account
Create a unique ledger account with the correct account class, category and tax percentages.
Updated on August 26, 2026
Use this page to add an account to your administration’s chart of accounts. You need access to the administration and an active Billnado licence.
Ledger account
| Field | Meaning and rules |
|---|---|
| Account class | The main group in the Belgian chart of accounts. You can select classes 1 through 7. |
| Account category | The accounting subgroup within the selected class. The list becomes available after you select a class and only contains categories from that class. Changing the class requires you to select the category again. |
| Number | The four-digit account number within the selected class and category. Billnado combines the three parts into the full account number and checks whether it already exists. |
| Description | The recognisable name describing what the account is used for. |
The full account number must be unique within your administration. Choose a different number or combination if Billnado reports that the account already exists.
Tax settings
| Setting | Meaning and rules |
|---|---|
| Always register account as an expense | Marks postings to this account as an expense by default. This setting is initially off. |
| VAT deductible portion as a percentage | The share of VAT that is recoverable by default. The default is 100% and the value is between 0% and 100%. |
| Professional portion as a percentage | The share of the expense that is professional. The default is 100% and the value is between 0% and 100%. |
| Tax deductible portion as a percentage | The professional share that is tax deductible. The default is 100% and the value cannot be negative. |
These values are saved as the ledger account’s default tax treatment. Choose percentages that fit your accounting situation or confirm them with your accountant.
Create the account
Choose Create once all information is valid. Billnado saves the account and opens its new record. You can later change the description and tax settings; the class, category and number remain fixed.
