Creating a new product

Use this wizard to create a product for selections, sales documents, stock management, and optionally rentals. You need access to the administration and an active Billnado license.

The wizard has three steps. Select Next when the current step is valid; select Previous to return without losing the information already entered.

Step 1: General Information

Enter both the identifying information and the default values for documents in this step.

Field or setting	Meaning and rules
Name	The recognizable product name Billnado uses in lists, selections, and documents.
Sku	The internal product code. An SKU cannot contain spaces. If you leave this field empty, Billnado derives a code from the product name when creating the product.
EAN	The product's barcode or international article number.
Category	The article category used to group and find products.
Description	Detailed product information with text formatting.
Standard selling price	The selling price Billnado suggests when you add the product to a new document. The price cannot be negative.
Standard unit	The usual sales unit, such as item, box, or meter.
Import 'description' in documents	Copies the product description when you use the product on a document.

Step 2: Purchase prices

Under Purchase prices, you can record a price agreement for each supplier. You can continue without adding a price and complete this information later on the product page.

Select Add for each supplier price you want to save.

Field	Meaning and rules
Supplier	The supplier to which the price and ordering details apply. Select a supplier whenever you add a price row.
Price	The purchase price from that supplier. The value cannot be negative.
Minimum order quantity	The smallest quantity you order under this agreement; the default is 1 and the value cannot be lower.
URL	A web page, such as the supplier's product or ordering page.
Rental Note	A free-form note for this supplier price.

Select Delete to remove an added price row from the wizard.

Step 3: Rental

Leave Can be rented cleared when the product is intended only for sale or internal use. Enable it to make the product available in rental selections.

Field or setting	Meaning and rules
Can be rented	Determines whether the product can be selected as a rental product.
Link to stock	Makes a rental use specific available stock items. When disabled, you enter a quantity without selecting individual stock items.
Minimum rental period	The shortest permitted rental period in days. The default is 0 and the value cannot be negative.
Maximum rental period	The longest permitted rental period in days. If entered, it cannot be shorter than the minimum.
Deposit	The default deposit Billnado suggests for a new rental.
Delay Costs per Day	The default amount charged per day for a late return.
Rental Note	General rental information that can be suggested as the default note.

Under Prices, you can save a daily rate and rental notification for Day, Weekend, Workweek, Week, 4 Weeks, and More than 4 weeks. Prices cannot be negative. Billnado uses these values as suggestions when you later add the product to a rental.

Create the product

Select Create Product in the final step. Billnado saves all three steps as one active product and then opens the new product page. You can review or edit the information and register stock there.

The wizard does not create stock items. Add them separately through Options > Manually record stock on the product page.

If Billnado cannot save the product, the wizard remains available and displays an error. Review the entered information and try again.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I return to an earlier step after selecting Next?

That step contains information that is not yet valid. Correct the indicated fields before continuing. For example, a maximum rental period can never be shorter than the minimum.

Do I have to enter purchase prices or rental information?

No. You can create a product without supplier prices and leave Can be rented disabled. Both sections can be completed later on the product page.

Is stock added immediately?

No. The wizard only creates the product. Register the available items separately on the product page.
